We’re passionate about helping those who are less fortunate and need a helping hand. We also seek to actively reduce our impact on the environment. The work we do can sometimes place a heavy toll on the world we live in, so every year we undertake Environmental Audits to ensure that our work sites and our projects meet and exceed the requirements of ISO 14001.
We actively stand alongside our friends at:
The Victorian Homeless Fund (VHF). The VHF assists the homeless in a number of areas including building and renovating houses. The current Chair of the VHF is our General Manager, Colleen May.
The HIA Charitable Foundation. With strong links to the HIA, May Constructions is an active participant in projects the Foundation supports. Our General Manager, Colleen May, is a former President of the HIA and the HIA Charitable Foundation and continues to serve on the Executive of both organisations.
Soldier On. Our Director, Simon O’Brien, is a returned serviceman who has seen and experienced the horrors of war first hand. He is passionate about helping those who have sacrificed part of themselves in the service of our country. His association with Soldier On commenced whilst still serving within the Australian Army and continues today.
This work starts at the top with our Head Office. The building was designed and built with the principles of Sustainability and includes features such as heat exchangers, double glazing with thermally broken frames, water recovery systems and low emission materials.
This focus continues into our projects with comprehensive environmental strategies designed for each project to help reduce our greenhouse gas emissions, promote the conservation of energy, reduce waste and reuse water.
We also encourage our staff and suppliers to contribute to the environmental challenge through education and leadership.
