A multi-faceted project re-defining Hawthorn’s Glenferrie Precinct. The heritage-listed garage which has served Hawthorn since 1910 has been refurbished and transformed into two vast retail spaces. Next door, the historic “Toolangi” house, built as a doctors surgery in 1905 has been fully restored and given a new life. Surrounding the heritage buildings, 21 spacious family apartments provide a modern context and replace a collection of crumbling outhouses. The development not only retains and restores two feature heritage properties but will enliven a tired shopping precinct.
